      Thomas J. Colley -- farmer and stock raiser. His grandfather was a pioneer settler of West Virginia, removing to that new country after the close of the Revolutionary War. He spent the remainder of his days in the Panhandle state and there reared his family.

      Thomas C., the father of Thomas J., was born in West Virginia 1805. After he grew up was married to Miss Winifred (Winnie) Cusic, also a native of what was then a part of old Virginia. Soon after their marriage in 1833? -- they moved to Mo., settled in Boone County where they lived till 1844. They then moved to Randolph C. They reared a family of nine children, 4 of whom are still living. Thos. J., W.M., R.W., & J.M. These except the eldest Thomas J. reside in Moberly. The Father died near Huntsville in 1878 but the mother is still living. Thomas J. the eldest of the living children was born in W. Virginia Jan. 6, 1832 and was brought to the state when quite young. Married Frances McCully in 1857. Moved to Chariton Co. in 1866, owns nearly a quarter of a section of land. Had nine children. James T, Mary, Mildred, Ellen, Marshall, Eura V, Hervy W, Johnny, Arthur & Ora.
